A New Year & New Adventures

2016. A new year- time to refresh, renew, resolve. My name is Erin, and I am sitting here on my couch, resolving to try something I have never attempted before- to write, publicly, my thoughts and feelings on what I do. My resolution for this year is to share- share feelings, share achievements, share failures. Whatever it is, whatever happens in my life, I want to be able to document the experiences I have in 2016. This means it could be a great success or a complete trainwreck, but either way, it'll be an adventure.

Most blogs start out by introducing some purpose or subject the author intends to focus on. Whether that's food, current events, or fashion, many online writers set out to describe things they feel are significant enough to earn attention and their criticism or support. Bloggers want to share messages, promote ideals, and entertain. Here, I hope to do a little of everything. I will blog about all things that make me, me--running, hopes and dreams, changes. It will explore my past as a runner, and chronicle my future as I chase my dream of being a professional athlete.

A major part of what you should know about me can be summed up in three words: I'm a runner. But, "We've heard that before!", you might say. It's true. But, running is for me like water for fish. It's necessary. Running is something that pushes me, inspires me, relaxes me- a essential piece of the puzzle. Without defining a strict subject for this blog, I can promise to delve more into how running is a huge aspect of my life, and is what I aim to do for many years to come.

To introduce myself a little more- my name is Erin, and I am a recent graduate of Davidson College. At Davidson, I was a member of the cross country and track teams, a history major, and math minor. I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a wonderful guy by the name of Sal Del Giudice. Together, we are making our attempt at living in the adult world, including one full-time and one part-time job (that's me), a growing number of new friends, and a whole lotta laundry.

In an effort to keep this first post from becoming incredibly long-winded, I'll stop here. I can promise future posts will have plenty of stories about my 22 years to date, my experience as a runner and growing up into the person I am right now. It will also document my life going forth into 2016, a year in which I hope to achieve a number of big, intimidating, and exciting goals!

Stay tuned for more! Until then, cheers to a new year!
